I just love my JD 2210 it has done all and more for me, last few times out I have noticed a loss of power , and now she wants to try and stall, chug, loose RPMS for a short time and then go back up to power, load does not matter , happens just moving down the field or if I am mowing. It has 410 hours on it. I have been faithful to service.
I thought I had bad fuel, but it runs sometimes for 10 20 minutes without issue ,so I am doubting that. Has good air filters, I checked all that and its good. I also drained and cleaned all the lines and filters and still no help. It is random, I cant make it happen. I am pretty handy with tools so I am hoping I can fix it. I did notice when it comes back up to full rpms it smokes a bit. Could it be a fuel pump issue? How would I know, any one with similar issue that has resolved it. I use this tractor every day , JD dealer is miles and miles away...HELP

Welcome to TBN:D

One easy test to try is next time it runs rough-loosen the fuel cap quickly and see if it clears up. The caps are vented and sometimes they get blocked.

ahh , did that , no help --
I go to thinking when its running fine it has good power and seems normal then it just stalls or want to quit. THen it if I stop the mower or stop forward motion it seems to catch itself and then run fine.

I noticed in the manual it talks of inspecting injectors and valve lash. but it would seem that if these were the issue it would be sluggish all the time.
One other bullet point is the fuel pump , it it mechanical. looks like 4 screws hold on the top plate , there a gasket in there that goes bad. I know it happens on dioesel cars WHere do I find tservcice procedures on this tractor ??

You can buy the FSM (factory service manual) from JD on CD for $75.00:
Technical Manual

They are VERY detailed and great to work from.

thanks for that. The little fuel pump on the side of the engine, if I open it up, what should I see, I suspect , if like my diesel cars a bladder of sorts, fuel only , no oil? or a mixture??

Any fuel screens that can be partially or temporarily blocked by movable debris?:D

I checked all of those, I am leaning now to mechanical fuel pump, seems like a fuel delivery issue, I doubt injectors at 400 hours, but perhaps.
I removed top half of fuel pump and oil was present , I wonder if the rubber pump flange has failed???

took out tank for a good cleaning, all lines cleaned, injectors look good, just left with fuel pump - so part ordered, what else could it be?? Keeping fingers crossed:eek:

Check the oil pressure switch. It is tied in with the fuel solenoid and if it fails intermittently it will make the fuel solenoid drop in and out causing the injection pump to starve for fuel. Or the fuel solenoid may be losing voltage from a bad connection.

I have thought that , is there a way to by pass safety features of fuel solenoid? Or isolate the solenoid so that external input is eliminated??
