2165 pto clutch disengages

Hello everyone, having a problem with my recent purchase. 1995 Cub Cadet 2165, Pto will occasionally shut down while mowing, turn the switch off and back on again and pto will usually start back up. I have read some issues on these electric clutches, but my thinking is it should either work or not work if it was the clutch. Switch connections are clean. Any Idea's? Thank Dave

Also keep in mind backing up will automatically disengage PTO...

Also, if you have an ohm meter, check the pto relay. If the relay gets too hot it can open the circuit causing to disengage the pto. Good luck.

I agree with the above 2 and add 1 more thing, not to insult you but does it cut out when you back up? If so its a safety switch preventing reverse mowing, but more then likely clutch adjustment if it is an adjustable clutch.

Thanks for all the input, the mower shuts down while mowing forward, I will try the adjustment procedure in the manual that I was linked to. thanks again, Dave
