JD 5055E Cab/JD 2038R
I have a 1025r and use it alot, mostly grass cutting, but i have found i use it alot more than my 5055e cab. Considering trading the 1025 in on a 2032r becsuse as of now it has no emissions. My only concern is the grass cutting, i mow about 3.5 acres, all flat with little trim. Just wanting a little bigger small tractor while its in the no emission stage as an upgrade but dont want to get too big to mow. Anybody with experience on this id like to hear your experience on the 2032 as a mower, thanks in advance.

I traded in my lemony 1025 for a 2025. Got tired of the rough, fast idle and many warranty calls. Had NONE on the 4010, and the 2025 is just a bigger engine 4010 with a few extra goodies the 4010 should have had. The 2025 is a MUCH better tractor.

I did what you are considering doing except I did it before the model change. I went from a 2305 to a 2720. It is used for 70% mowing, and the other 30% of the time is garden tilling and snow blowing. I am so glad I did! It needs a little more room but the smoother ride is well worth it.

bigtiller, do you use the lift to set the mow height or did you make a mechanical stop. This is the other concern I have because I dont want a stopper on the lift slide arm setting the height, id think if you raised and lowered it 10 times you would measure 10 different heights even with the stopper. A mechanical stop of some sort would be a must...maybe im wrong.

My deck is not controlled by the 3ph. It has its own hydraulic cylinder and a third set of mid mount remotes and a bypass switch so the joystick can raise and lower it. This system also has its own height adjustment. It's all factory stuff, dealer installed and works very well.

Anyone figure out how to get rid of that stupid mow in reverse switch they put on the new ones? That stopped me from buying one right there.

Don't let that stop you, it is an easy system to override.

If scalping is not a problem the 72" deck combined with the higher speed in the 2032r should reduce your mowing time. I would not be concerned about the slightly larger size machine because the tires are large enough to spread out the increased weight.

I suspect the slightly larger size will be more useable for your lawn work. I have considered getting one myself but really need to get a much larger field tractor next.

I went to the dealer Sunday and drove the 2032R and the 2025R. Not much different in the 2 other than the 2025 retains the deck height lock knob. Only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on the 2032 is using the 3pt hitch stopper to obtain the cut height, maybe Im overthinking this but I can't see that being as accurate as some type of mechanical stop. Anybody out there mowing with the 2032R and the 3pt hitch lift give me some reassurance?

Can't help you on the accuracy of the 3 point, but the JD position control on the 3 point seems to be pretty good. The deck height knob isn't a perfect solution either. It isn't a continuous adjustment - it's a series of notches. The notches are quite far apart, especially if your lawn isn't a golf green. On my 2320, I can only really use two of the settings (plus the lock up - 5 to 6 inches for the really rough stuff.) Overall I'm very happy with the machine as a mower, but I would rather have a continuous adjustment.
