2030 diesel leak injection pump

My JD 2030 USA built has a leak, diesel fuel, at the injection pump. It looks like at the "throttle" lever.

I looked at JD parts. From the drawings it looks like maybe the top cover has to come off (drawing 3) to remove the shaft to replace the shaft o-ring.(drawing 1)

I can't tell from the drawing how the shaft comes out, maybe clip key 15? . Or which parts are inside the housing. (drawing 2 that shows lever)


I do have the 2030 Tech Manual, but it only covers R&R of the injection pump. Nothing about taking it further apart.


To "thepumpguys" is this an easy fix?

R&R of throttle shaft seals is fairly simple after IP cover is removed. BE SURE TO TAKE NOTE of each location of each end of spring is attached

Yes #15 {clip} comes off & the 2 shafts can be pulled apart.
DRAIN the pump by removing/loosening the 2 screws on the side cover..
.. if your ordering parts, get the side cvr gasket too.
DONT drop the clip..
Its much easier to just get a gasket kit.. 24371.. than to try to find the throttle orings, sd cvr gasket & top cvr oring..

I know this thread is fairly old... but thought I would try.

@Zebrafive - I am seeing the same leak on my 2030. Was this fix straightforward? Will I need to take the injection pump off?

I can’t say yes or no.. you’ll have to make that call when you try to get the shaft out on the engine side..

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. The leak only occurs when the engine is off and a very slow drip so I have some time. I have the parts in hand (o rings, side gasket, cover gasket) as of today so will work on it after haying is done.
