I looked over the Mahindras and have some questions...looking for, HST, FEL and BKoe setup with the tractor and maybe adding a mid mower in a year or two.

The 2015 HST looks nice although the FEL seems to be the weakest of the lot. The backhoe option on the 2015 seems to be the 2710 which appears to be attached to the subframe differently than the 1815/2415.

How long does it take to remove the BHoe on the 2015? easy or hard compared to the 1815/2415? Can the Bhoe mounting frame stay on when adding the mid-mower attachment?

What is the difference in the mounting design between the 1815/2415 and 2015 bhoes?

I like the specs on the 2710 since it can dig to almost 8' compared to the 1815/2415 1720 bhoe that only reaches 6'6". May need the extra depth for trenching 7' down and 2' wide. Not sure what size bucket is best and what the bhoe can really handle.

Pricing on bhoes seems to be hard to get. Trying to get dealers to give me breakdown costs and they want to give total package price with financing options.

Since I have a 2015 I would like to add my own perspective. I bought my 2015 thinking that I was going to be digging and mowing, in the end it turns out that I am doing almost exclusively digging. I have a separate garden tractor that I am thinking of just doing all of the mowing with and just using the finish mower in some hilly spots and a few places I don't like taking the garden tractor.

One thing I did differently though, I bought a rear 3 point finish mower with the tractor. I can pop the deck on and off the tractor in literally no more than a few minutes. Although I have to say that the mid mower is one seriously rugged looking piece of equipment.

I would also think that the time to switch back and forth from backhoe to mower would be a time and back killer. I am thinking once I get the the 2015 paid off, I might go back to my dealer and trade in my cub cadet for a 1815 with a mid mower and turf tires. A perfect not too big Mahindra mowing machine. Then I will keep the 2015 as a digging machine, something it seems to be able to do quite easily.

, I thought

I'm in total agreement. If you're gonna do primarily mowing in tighter spaces, the 1815 with mid-mount is the way to go, but if you're sold on the 2015, I would go with the 3 point mower. It'll do a great job at mowing, and is a substantial "digging" machine. It greatly increases the versatility of the tractor when you don't have to spend all day changing implements.

I do alot of dirt work with my 2015 Gear. I've found the loader to be plenty tough enough for anything I do. But like everyone else, I think a 54" bucket would be nice.

I should add, even though I have a Woods Groundbreaker backhoe instead of the Mahindra 2710, As with any subframe unit, once it's installed, it only takes 5 minutes to remove, and maybe 10 to put it back on.

Also, I have a 16 inch wide bucket, and found that it works very well. While it's a little wide if you're looking to do a narrow trench with minimal ground distubance, for most jobs it's perfect. I can dig a big hole really fast. I have it operating on a PTO pump, because the GPM is a little better than the tractor's, and I can run the machine at a lower RPM, and still get good speed. Also, I have no other implements that need remotes. Overall, I have no complaints.

Thanks for the replies! I will pass on the mower for now since I have a small Scott mower and only have a little more than 1/2 acre to mow.

I currently have an old AC with a pretty good FEL (lifts 500lbs with back blade and rake, weighted tires). I am trying to justify buying the 2015 but the 1815 with the mid mower deck is really a better fit...

I am going to install a geothermal system and need to trench about 500 -600 feet total and it must be 6+ feet down. 7-8 would be ideal but that would be beyond the 1815 limits and require manual labor.

I could hire someone or rent but a $1K estimate may turn into 3 or 4 K the way most contractors work. I am trying to determine where boulders/rock may exist in my yard since the area is rocky.

Here's my question...Could the 1815 with the standard hoe dig this trench 2feet wide...6.5 down or is it really not up to the job? I think the 2015 is much more suited with the larger hoe but it may be overkill once this job and my patio are done.

I have not thought about OEM bhoes like Woods but I think they would be near the same capacity as the stock 1815 hoe and would probably cost more.

Last question....if the 2015 or 1815 is only digging dirt and I am adept at the controls, any idea of the digging rate for a 2' by 6' deep trench using a 12 inch or 16 inch bucket.

Thanks!

Could the 1815 handle the job you want to do? probably, but you'd be at it's limit all the time.

I'm partial to the slightly bigger machine because as I said before, I do alot of dirt work. In fact, If I were going to do the type of work you're goning to do everyday, comercially, I'd go even bigger.

One factor to consider is weight. I know the 2015 with loader, loaded tires and hoe is somewhere around 3500 lbs. The heavier the tractor, the less the backhoe will throw you around, or pull you into the trench versus move the dirt.

Another factor I considered (though many don't agree its important) was tire size. The extra ground clearance and larger tires are a big plus to me when constantly working in dirt. When I bought my tractor, there was no 1815 yet, but I was considering the Kubota BX's. The sub-compact design really doesn't make it too "off-road" friendly in the slimy, muddy stuff. It's pretty easy to get buried. I've even had the 2015 stuck a couple times.

I also don't know what size buckets are available for the 1815. It's gonna take you somewhat longer to move the dirt with a 12 inch bucket over a 16. I picked up my Woods B-70X hoe for $6500 if I remember right. That included installation, the 16 inch bucket, and PTO pump setup.

Not sure I can answer the "rate of dig" question, cuz I never checked. I lose all track of time when I'm playing on a tractor!!!

GP1200X..
I would like to add some info to your needs and wants...
First of all I see you mentioned that you may want to add a belly mower down the road, I just want to get you straight before you commit.
As of right now or at least that I am aware of the only combination that is available is the Mahindra 2015 with the Woods 6000 or 70X and if you get the Woods 70X you will need the 4 point mount subframe.
Now I have asked several Mahindra dealers if the 1815 can utilize the mid mount mower along with the brackets of the backhoe and no one has done it yet, I do have that combo coming so I can try this myself.

Woods does not have any backhoe mounts available for the 1815 yet.

Rick,
Thanks! That is really helpful since I didn't think the 2015 with the factory 2710 backhoe could take a mid mower due to the clearances I saw and I was going to ask if the Woods 70X would allow it.

My impression was that the 1815 with the factory BH can take a mid mower but I have not specifically seen it on any setup yet.

The last dealer I spoke with seemed to confirm these facts too even though he suggested a rear mower which I would not use due to my land setup.

I would be very interested to know if a factory Backhoe/Mid mower combo works on the 1815. I would have thought this would be a fairly common request but it seems to be a rare setup.

I slam my head against the desk every day over this combination..
I have my load of Mahindras coming in next week and I AM GOING TO TRY THIS MYSELF!
I will keep everyone posted.:)

Thanks Rick

I will keep my eyes open for this combo on my trip this week...passing by a few dealerships.

It would seem that a 1815 TLB with the mower deck option would be a pretty good competitor against the SCUTs offered by Kubota, MF and Deere...esp since the tires are smaller than the 2015/2415 but larger than the SCUTs and the specs are better than the SCUTs. Not sure why Mahindra didn't try to package it this way.
