I am looking at a used 2014 KIOTI DK40SE open cab with hydrostat transmission. The tractor has 334 hours on it. Comes equipped with a kl401 load and doesnt appear to be abused. Dealer is asking $18,500. Is this a good price? Trying to weigh purchasing a new DK4510 or a NX4510. I like the idea of no tier 4 on the older unit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

IMHO that price is fair.I think I paid around $19,000 for the same tractor(Gear)back in 2008.

In my opinion, that is a good price. You need to be getting the money put down on that one before someone else does..These are excellent tractors, and if that one has been well cared for, it will make you a good workhorse.

Sounds good. I have that tractor with over 1000 hard hours on it, doing backhoe and loader work. I don't baby it at all, and use a 7' all angle snowplow, Brush hog, log grapple, tree shear, etc. See my avatar, aND attachments list. I also use it to box blade and grade my drives.
It's an excellent machine.
See what maintainance it has had re: trans filters. If you can't be shown actual paperwork showing trans filter servicing, get both filters and change them out, to be on the safe side.
You do NOT have to change the hydraulic fluid when doing the filter change, just top off any lost fluid after running and verifying the level.
Good luck, and post outcome and pics of your new toy/workhorse.

Nice to see the DKse line is keeping its value. I agree with others that $18K is not a bad price at all for a recent used DK40se given what the replacement NX4510 costs and considering that performance is virtually identical. My 2007 DK40se has been going strong and has never had any significant maintenance issue. Biggest issue was cracked fuel bowl replaced by me under warranty. Mine has never been back to the dealer.
I have a 2010...same exact model. I have 432hrs on it. Had a chance to sell it last fall for $18K. Couldn't afford to step up to cab unit just yet so I held on to it. Just paid it off last month. GO FOR IT!!!!! That's a great price for a '14 model, IMHO.
