So I am about 99% to pull the trigger on one. Just working my dealer waiting for the right moment. I have bought two tractors from them and since the service is so stellar I just cant see going another color.

I shopped everyone else, and while I see things on other machines I like, there is just as much I don't like.

I see much less activity in NH than back in 04, and have read the thread about not ordering the 11's or was it 10's. Either way, seems people don't like these machines anymore. I don't see why.

Well the most obvious thing is the operator station is smaller than it used to be. The seat as far back as it can go is about as close as it goes on the Green machine I looked at. And being 6'0 -225, and having a knee that gets mad if it is bent to long, I picked up on that quickly. If I were to operate 20+ hours a week I could see that as a huge issue.

However, operator comfort for me is secondary (I mean within reason). There are a lot of other functions on the machine that were easier to service, better built, less exposed, etc, imho. Course I aint no blood mechanic, I am an abuser of equipment.

So the point is just to check if I am overlooking anything. Are they really that bad?

My dealers service is impeccable, so really, I won't be changing my mind. Just trying to get a measure if there is anything else to be aware of.

Comfort issues though, not performance?

I almost never used the 30 anyway. That was for farm hands. The 55da is what I have most of my hours on.

Well , I just got done running a 2 hour demo on a loaner. They really fubard the operators platform on these. I can guarantee if I had a larger property where I would be using it for long periods of time bush hogging or mowing it would likely be an auto no deal.

At 6' 220 I may not be small, but this is a bit ridiculous.

Anyway, the machine operators nicely, and the main controls work nicely. Some of the minor controls are a pain. And the Gear shift H M L is way too long. I have to put it in high in order to get my legs off the tractor.

They all have flaws, every last tractor I have ever looked at. The question is always which are you willing to accept and which fit with what you are doing.

And that is my brief report. Won't close a deal till next week at the earliest, though we shall see.

I think and this is just my opinion, that most of the problem was just that there was a change and people don't like change. There are always things that some people like better than others and other things that they don't. The one item that was complained about that was a valid complaint was that the compact tractors were not avalable with a cab. Another one was the leg room which I just don't see and I am 6' + also. Oh well as I said this is just an opinion.

Ok I just looked my tractor would be more the Boomer 50, so yea I see the problem with the room on the 30. It seems to be much smaller or at least it does in the pictures.

I am in the research stage of tractor shopping, and there is a New Holland / Boomer dealer about 1 hr away from me. I have certainly had interest in Boomer as well, grabbed the brochures, over the years - slightly smaller model than the one you are considering.

Although I can't answer your specific questions, the paths that I have taken were to check out the Reviews section on this TBN website - there are 3 reviews for the Boomer 30 tractor, the 3rd review is particularly thorough. There are also the dealers sites and other data type sites that will give you specifics.

That said, I think that my decision is starting to remove Boomer / New Holland from my selection, and look at loader / backhoe options within the 22 - 26 HP range of JD 2320 and Kubota BX25, B7510 as examples. I haven't decided yet, but those two brands are the ones that keep drawing me in. Like I said, somewhat smaller compact tractor than what you are considering. What I like about Boomer is the heavier unit means that there is more lifting capacity (forklift idea) on the front end. That may ultimately be a deal maker for me.

I know that New Holland made some recent changes, having moved between Ford - Case - New Holland partnerships in the last 10 - 15 years. I would want to know who is manufacturing their engines / units at this time. Their dealerships are getting positive reviews, and that says a lot.

All the best in your tractor purchase. I am probably a year away from that decision ... it will be a compact tractor with loader, backhoe, mower - I just need to figure out what colour suits me ( Blue, Red, Orange, or Green)

If loader lift power and 3pt hitch lift power is a primary concern, I would suggest u at least take a look at the mahindra max series. They are more comparable to the Kubota b series, than bx. But they are more powerful. If u r getting a backhoe, then Kubota specs r better on that.

I'm also about to pull the trigger on a 30. I went over the Boomer 30 HST today and also spent considerable time looking over the Kioti CK-30 HST. They seem to have all the same features, almost identical weights, very similar performance specs and the same price. CK had the free loader special whereas the Boomer came with similar package. NH has a 4 cylinder engine whereas Kioti has a 3. Not sure if a slightly larger 3 cylinders work any harder than 4 slightly smaller cylinders. Anyway, I was offered either at a first pitch price $17,500 with free delivery and loaded rear wheels. Not sure what the bottom lines are, but if you didn't care for the operator station on the Boomer, check the Kioti. Maybe you'll notice a difference.

Best,
Doc
