Buying Advice 2010 Kubota L3540 HST used

I'm looking at a 2010 L3540 HST, LA724 loader with quick connect bucket, a Buhler farm king 8' back blade. 600hrs. Not a cab tractor. It's been kept inside and meticulously taken care of. Looks nearly new with no paint fading. The asking price is $22,500 and a complete set of new ag tires and wheels is available for an extra $500. I was wondering if this is a good price to pay for this machine?

I have the successor and current model of the L3540, an L3560.

I have the heavier LA805 Loader, L2296 Heavy Duty, Round Back Bucket, Industrial Tires and Draft Control.

I paid $27,500 in February 2014. (No sales tax on ag equipment in Florida.)

The MSRP of the L3540 was $22,410 {from Kubota web site} tractor ONLY (no loader) new.

Tier iV/final Emissions Control equipment and general upgrade of the L3540 to L3560 added somewhere around $5,000 to the new cost. Used, the pre-Tier IV/final equipment is commanding a premium price these days.

For a meticulously maintained L3540 tractor-loader + blade, I think $22,500 is a good price. The L3540 is one of Kubota's Grand L series. This is one of the most thoroughly equipped, heaviest small tractors available, with the HST+ transmission being one of many fine features. The engine is very quiet and one of the most vibration free tractor engines. 600 hours is nothing on a well maintained, diesel tractor, especially a Grand L.

Tires should only be 4% to 6% worn at 600 hours, unless tractor ran a lot on hard roads.

I would not fool around. I would perhaps offer $21,500 IN CASH, but my objective would be to go home with the tractor and blade rather than hack around on the price. It is worth paying for meticulous care.

If you need a tractor like that, that's a good one.

As you can see, they hold their value very well.

What kind of tires are on it now? If it's got R4s or turfs, buying the extra wheels and tires would be awesome. Get a floor jack and an impact gun and you can go from something reasonably friendly to your lawn to something that'll actually pull well or drive through deep snow in a few minutes.

The emissions issue has certainly "tilted" used prices. Same thing has happened in the truck world. Would be a bit hard to swallow giving the seller what he paid for the tractor new. But your only concern should be what it's worth to you.

You've got a great second tractor to support the purchase in your 550!!!!

That's a good deal on a nice tractor;the extra wheels and tires are worth $1,000.I don't believe the 835 loader was available for the L3540,there is a frame jump size between the L3540 and L3940.I had a similar tractor ,the L3130 HST and it was a great all around tractor.600 hours is nothing as long as the fluid changes have been done on schedule.

That's a great tractor, as earlier posters have noted. Our old L3130, several models earlier and smaller, was a great tractor with plenty of capabilities for a 31 hp machine, and the L3540 is sweeter still. If you find it isn't exactly what you want, you should be able to resell it without taking a hit. We look forward to seeing photos! Curious what tires it has at present? R 4s are probably ideal.

That thing wouldn't last more than a day or two around here, they sell quick, I'd buy it, it has the biggest loader offered on that model and the hours are low.
