I am definately ready for this year to be over. It was a wet spring and we had a terrible time getting everything planted, then I had my stroke followed by 2 surgeries one being a quadruple bi pass. Fall has been fun getting all the crops in with the high moisture content and wet field conditions, and I finally get back to work and hurt my shoulder. Luckily I didn't tear my rotator cuff but I did injure it. The Dr. said I will need a couple weeks of therapy and then I will be back to work again. I also had a root canal done in the middle of it all. I should be a new man by the time 2010 comes around. Up until this year I can't remember being off work for an illness and now I will have missed 3 and 1/2 monthes worth. My wife jokes that she put a new motor and transmition in me and now my front fender is falling off. Makes me dread getting old even more LOL.

Ouch.

I'm still counting my blessings, seeing many of my age with medical issues.... just had a major physical, and everything's "normal".... Yeah, for sure I said "Thanks" a week or so ago.

Glad you're in such good spirits- that's a large part of the recuperation process, I think! :)

Sounds like a good year to have behind you. I hope 2010 is a whole lot better for you.
Dave.

Great to hear you're still able to laugh, that funny bone is pretty easily broken on most.

Also, is there an extended warranty on those parts?
Wrinkled fenders mean you're in close quarters, :p

Glad to hear you are in good spirits and on the mend. 2010 will be better.
My wife sometimes threatens to take me to the vet when time I get banged up or sick. I'm afraid she's going to have me put down.

.
You only have to fear that after the other reason for taking male dogs to the vet has been done a long time ago:rolleyes:
Besides -- you get a lot better service at the vets than at the people docs:p
Just remember getting old beats the alternative:eek:

Me too. Life has beaten me up this year.

She has not traded you in yet but sounds like your warranty is done.

Glad you are doing well now and have a good spirit about the mishaps. Always the hope that the new year brings new hopes, and chances.

I remember hearing Mickey Mantel interviewed a few years before he passed away...one thing he said..." If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself " Yeah, before anyone dreads old age ...consider the alternative..Keep up the good outlook and you will be fine.

Well the year is close to the end and with any luck at all you will have a great 2010! I must say I am hoping for the same. Been a bit tough around here too.

We had our normal problems getting crops in and then we couldn't cultivate in June, too much rain! So by the fall we had a very hard time digging the potatoes, but finally got that finished.

So we decided to go out an buy a new car.

Before:

With just 2500 miles on it I wasn't watching what I was doing and backed the dump taialer right into the side of the (her) new car! It is a case of "No good Deed goes unpunished" We were loading up the trailer with a load of fire wood to take to a family where the husband is out of work and having a hard time of it.

After:

It goes into the body shop tomorrow for a new door and paint...Just under $1,800.00

Must be a NH Volvo thing!

Saturday, daughter's boyfriend backed a 1-ton pickup out of garage-- right into the front of her S60.... grille, fascia, headlight, hood, radiator.... No damage to the Ford pickup, of course. Looks like her car will be out for a few weeks, too. :(

Oh- boyfriend was on the way to help a friend put up some rafters on a sagging roof....

No it was a DEAR - CAR Incident and she the wife has been great not to rub .
it in to badly. As she said to me "Things happen so get over it"

So I let her know I was having her car detailed for Christmas present.

irvingj: Darn I just know how her boyfriend feels. Hope insurance picks up the cost as the parts are expensive. We were lucky that the side impact airbags didn't go off as it would doubled the cost of the parts.

:)

Wayne-- speaking of silver linings....
1) My daughter's radiator began a slow leak a while ago, and she found her extended warranty didn't cover it. (Guess she won't have to worry about that any more!)

2) She had an altercation with ice and a guardrail a year ago and had one of the ($$$$$$) headlights replaced, which turned out to be significantly whiter/brighter than the original -- and the old, dimmer one was the one broken Saturday!

3) She had a large scratch on the Volvo emblem in the grille, which, since she takes after her sometimes **** Dad, really bothered her. That got destroyed along with the grille....

I asked her if this accident was "planned"--! (No, it wasn't. Boyfriend felt terrible.)
