2008 MF GC2410
Tried a search here and on google, and nothing really helped.

Just bought a 2008 GC2410 with just over 200 hours.

Trying to check the all the fluid levels before I put this thing to work, and I cannot find the hydraulic oil level site glass.
According to one source, "Checking the hydraulic oil level is as simple as looking at the site glass located on the left rear side of the rear axle housing."
Ok, I know what all those words mean, but I still cannot find the site glass!! Do I need to remove the wheel?

I am pretty sure I am low on hydraulic fluid because I had a hose leak. The one to the backhoe. I am sure others have had this leak because the hose rubs against the edge of a penetration through the backhoe frame. After I replaced the hose I zip tied some garden hose pieces around the new hoses to take the brunt of the wear.

Also, how do I raise the hood? :confused2:
I cant find a latch, and when I just try to pull it up I get some resistance. I dont want to pull too hard just in case there is a latch somewhere.

And I have ordered the manuals but they probably wont arrive until after the weekend.

TIA for any help!

No such thing as a stoopid question:)

The sight glass (if I remember correctly) is easiest to see from the left side of the BH (left meaning you are looking at the steering wheel from the BH) and just below fill cap to the left. Wish I had some pics so that I could show you better. The hood can be lifted by either grasping the vent on top or the metal part of the hood from the sides and pulling up. You may have to manhandle it a little to break it free from the clamps.

I grasp my hood on both sides and give it a modest jerk. Lower the grill guard to get it fully up. I do not have a BH so the site glass is visible. Look for a circular object below the fill opening. It is probably covered in dust.

:welcome: Welcome from Canada.:) You will enjoy this little but mighty machine. I put a handle on the top of my hood to make it easier to lift.;)

I like the Handle you put on your tractor :drink:my fellow Canadian! I will be doing this for my tractor soon, I always have my tractor on a float charge and I am constantly opening and closing the hood and a handle like this would be perfect!

BK911, did you find it? The 2410 is a bit different than the 2310, but the idea's the same... those sight glasses are hard to find with the backhoe on; a good flashlight will help.

I can only see mine from one particular angle when the BH is on, by looking through one of the "holes" in the mounting frame.

I use an inspection mirror (mirror mounted via a swivel head to a telescopic "antenna" handle) and a flashlight to see the sight glass.

I hope he found it.

I like the handle idea.

Bakerg: where did you find a handle like that?

It's part of an old latch from a robot cage from work that was being thrown out. It just happened it was the right shape and worked perfect.;)
