Traded my B7800 to a new L3240HSTPlus, Quick attach Bucket and Fiberglas Sun shade this past summer. It now has 22 hours on it. It's just bigger than I need and I want to sell it and buy another B tractor. Would $18500 be a fair price?

Just paid 19k flat out the door price, for an new L3240HST, w/ 724 FEL, QA and HD bucket with filled R4s, rear work light and block heater. However, in some parts of the county, they are going for much higher from what I am reading. So, 18.5k may not be a bad starting price. The finaincing is gonna be the deal killer. I got 0 down, 0% interest for 54 months. Can't get that on a used unit.

Thanks for reply. Mine has I4's filled and HD bucket but not heater or lights. There may be a way to get 2% interest on mine. May throw in a new funnel shaped fertilize spreader to make a deal. I don't need it.

5Moons: Did yours also have the sunshade? I think that was $400 or $500.

No sun shade for me. At the time the options were a basic sun shade for about $300.00 or the delux for $600.00. I like that golden bronze tone I get during the summer after logging long hours on my tractor. LOL.

Just curious, what is it you didn't like about the larger machine? I have often wondered if I should have gone bigger.

First let me say I'm a trader. I've owned over 110 cars since 1965. I've bought 6 Kubotas in almost 5 years. Now let's go from there. My first tractor was a BX2200. It worked so good that in one year I traded it to a B7800. The only problem I had with the BX was low ground clearance. Needed more which the B gave me. Kept the B for 3 years till paid off. The 0% interest thing just lights up my desire to trade which is why they have it. The B did everything great except my 6' Landpride RFM seemed to swing the tractor a bit when turning at the bottom of the hill but it wasn't a problem. Also switching bucket to forks was the pits. The B ground clearance was right for me and it made dirt work faster than the BX. Ok B paid off so now what do I do. Go back to Barlows and see what the next step up is. That's an L3240HSTplus with quick attach bucket. The L rides better with the better seat. Has the 3 PH plus features. All kinds of extra features with the HST Plus. I moved some dirt with it and it's quicker than the B and is a pleasure to work with but I'm about finished with my projects so I've got this more expensive machine sitting there. I do have a few projects left and will always have some ongoing but not like in the past 5 years when I started from scratch clearing and leveling and building my own home. I will probably keep the L and maybe one day someone with a low hours B will come along that will want the L and pay the difference. I also traded my BX1500 this year to a BX2350 which I use for my mowing. Bottom line, I like trading and kept going to the point that I know the B is the better machine for my needs. I know alot of people have the "Tim the toolman mentality MORE POWER" and I'm one of them but there's a point when it just cost more to have something that you'll rarely if ever need. I have an Avalanche to drive on trips and move tractor and a Subaru WRX to drive daily. I like both of them but I'm more comfortable driving the WRX daily than the hugh Avalanche. I guess I prefer something a little smaller in cars since I've had a 2 seater car through most of my life and I guess I prefer a little smaller tractor. The B7800 also has almost as much HP as the L3240 at about half the weight. That extra weight has some good and bad to it. Also trailering the B is easier than the L due to weight. My dual axle trailer will handle the B easy and the L sets it down on the ground. I don't like moving the L but wouldn't mind trailering the B if I needed to. Bigger isn't better. Usually it's just bigger.
