Hello- not even sure if this is the proper thread to post this , but we need some help and fast- if anyone can it would be so apprecitated
We are putting in new CRP grasses and have gotten the Tye Pasture Pleasure to use from our local SFA office-
Bad part is they have no manual on this, piece of equiptment as of yet- And we are getting ready to plant in the next day or so- and are trying to find out the proper settings for these small seed blend's
We sure do not want to dump 2000.00 worth of seed on the ground
I am seaching the internet for answer's but if anyone here knows the Settings or where to find them or any more info on the Pasture Please- it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much

I rented a Tye pasture pleaser last month to drill in some clover and fescue. First thing I did was to check the seed tubes that route the seeds down to the furrow opening disk assemblies. On the one I rented a couple of the tubes were plugged or blocked down on the bottom.

If you open the seed box lid you will probably see a chart which explains how to setup the drill, it might be helpful, or if you are like me I just found it confusing.

There are two knobs on the right hand side of the drill when looking from the rear which are used to adjust the seed flow rate from the seed boxes. If you tighten the knob it will close up the seed box openings and slow down the seed rate.

For my small clover seed I used the smaller seed box in the back of the unit and I closed down the seed openings until the openings were just about 1/8" wide.

Then I put some seed in the box. Then I tested the setup two different ways. With the drill up in the air and stationary, not moving, I rotated the seed box drive wheel by hand a few turns. I then looked to make sure that seed had flowed from the box, down the tubes, and was deposited on the ground where it was supposed to be.

Next I lowered the drill using the hydraulic remote and had my wife drive the tractor very slowly forward while I walked behind and I watched the seeds slowly flow out of the seedbox openings and then drop down the delivery tubes. I adjusted the knobs on the right side to dial in the amount of seed flow that I wanted.

If you need to set it up for an exact seed flow rate then you need to go a step further and place the bottom of the feed tubes in little bags that will catch seed. Then you measure out a distance of 100 or so feet, drive the tractor forward the measured distance, collect the seed from the bags, weigh the seed, and then calculate the seed rate. You can come up with a seed rate in terms of pounds per acre with a little math. I did not go this far with it, I just walked behind the drill and eyeballed the seed as it came out of the seed box and dropped down the tubes and set the knob to get the flow rate I wanted.

So, I was able to get the desired flow rate from each tube and made sure that the seed made it into the ground using this method.

Now, I believe that you can also set up the drill to adjust the planting depth and perhaps even adjust the trailing wheel that presses down the soil. I cannot tell you how to do this, mine came preset from the extension office.

Finally, I really enjoyed using the Tye drill and it did a great job. I now have little rows of seedlings growing so the job was successful. Good luck, I hope this info is helpful to you.
