Hey,
So I may be going to look at a 2007 Kubota RTV900 with 533 hours- there asking 6495.00 plus tax. I was just wondering how are the RTV900's? I was debating between polaris rangers or the Kubota RTV's? I know the kubota is a diesel so it should have a little extra power behind it. This is mainly going to be used for around the house and property (with only a few steep grades and some mud) and possibly dragging a deer out of tight spots. Anything I should be on the look out for the RTV900 since its a 2007?

thanks

We've had two RTV's and my neighbor has a Polaris. If you want a machine just to drive around in get the Polaris. If you want a work horse for pulling heavy loads and carrying weight get the Kubota. They are very different machines.

I have the 2008 RTV, with 525 hrs on it. It is the most used equipment I own, use it every day except the dead of winter. So far it has been bullet proof.
If this unit stops on a dime when you let off the accelerator, look into a coast valve. You can get them on EBay, and really improve the handling, easy to install yourself.
You won't win any speed contest, but it will outwork a sportier unit

I will most likely be using it to check trail cameras, hauling fence and fence post, also wood planks and pallets plus hauling dirt to fill in the holes on the trails. I have an ATV and find myself hooking up the trailer every time i want to do something which is annoying so i need something with a bed on it. (I think i never went above 20 mph with that) and when the kids bug me to go for a ride it would be nice to have them sit next to me.

Also I talked to the dealer on the phone and they did a through check and replaced a linkage arm and the rear axle or something (he could not remember because he did not have the paper work in front of him).

I am going to check it out on Monday.

Thanks you for all the suggestions- just trying to gain any information to use toward negotiations as well.

If you have a good relationship with the dealer, the price is right-at least in this area.

I dont know the dealer kind of found the RTV online and sent a request type of thing; I also happen to find a 2008 Polaris Ranger 700 XP for sale as well within the price range (private seller). Says it has 1905 miles, roof, half windshield, winch, extra flood lights and full operation service manual- going to see if I can check it out on Monday as well.

Gt off the phone with the guy for the polaris ranger 700 xp- it has 300 hours and comes with a few extra oil filters and some other spare parts, sounds like the guy took care of it and didn't ride it hard or a lot really only reason they are selling is they bought a new ranger.
I guess it may come down to price. Unless you guys can give me some big known mechanical issues with either one.

As I understand it, they're pretty different machines. The ranger will be faster, smoother, lighter. The RTV heavier, more powerful and slower. Drive both of them and get what you need. Personally, in a UTV, I think I'd want a gas motor. Most of my use would be to fire it up, run it for ten minutes, and shut it down, also, lots of starting and stopping. I'd just feel better doing that to a gasser (or even go electric) than a diesel.

Comparing a Polaris Ranger to a Kubota RTV would be like comparing an F150 to a diesel Super Duty. About the only thing common is 4 wheels. I have a Yamaha Rhino and an RTV900. The wife uses the Rhino. I use the RTV.

Totally depends on your expectations and uses. As you've stated you already have an ATV, I'd lean toward the RTV. If you wanna go fast or jump a terrace you can get on the ATV. :)
