2007 Cub Cadet RZT 42 PTO Clutch Fell Off!?!?

I am very confused and looking for some help. I have a 2007 Cub Cadet RZT 42 with less than 200 hours on it. It has been well cared for since new. The electric PTO clutch came off the other day while I was mowing. The bolt's threads were messed up so I purchased a new bolt and it threaded in just fine and seated properly. I turned the mower back on and the blades were moving just a bit (without the PTO on) and the mower had a loud vibration to it and the bolt is coming loose again. Do I need a new PTO clutch?

Take the clutch back off and check the bearings in the clutch. there should be a top and bottom bearing. Turn the bearings feeling for any roughness. if anything doesn't feel right then replace the clutch. Also while you have it off. Start the mower and see if the crankshaft has a wobble in it or not. Most likely not, unless you hit something, but if it does, then you are looking at major expensive repairs.

You are not the first to wonder why yours came off so easy, and there are times when we actually have quite a time getting them off. We have seen the bolts come out within a few hours from purchase which makes you wonder of the effort to put one on right! Doesn't seem to make much difference as to the make from what we have seen.

Get a parts break down and make sure you have all the pieces and use lock tite to put it back together.
