2005 jeep liberty diesel

tomorrow we sign the papers or in other words "pull the trigger" on a 2005 jeep liberty diesel for the wife. we took it for a test ride, and it ran great with lots of torque from a four banger 2.8 L. i was surprised at how little noise the suv made, as diesels are known to knock a bit. the few people we talked to that knew anything about the jeep liberty said they were a great little suv. so i figured i would lay it out on TBN and get some other opinions on the jeep liberty diesel, good or bad.

just asked a friend of mine, who is a line mech at jeep. said no major complaints except for fuel mileage not what most are expecting.........

1962 , the wife got Her CRD earlier this year . So far a little over 8k on it . It did have the EGR valve replace recently with the newer updated model . The old one caused a mild surge until the engine was up to temp . The wife uses it in mixed driving about 100 miles a day . The mileage has been in the 23-26 mpg range . ( route *8 from Butler to pittsburgh )
We haven't run it on an all highway run yet , but I think 28-30 would not be unreasonable to expect . If I can answer any other questions that you have , I'd be happy to . One criticism I have is the original tires . They are Goodyear wrangler ST'S . They aren't the best tire in rain (and I'd expect snow ) . I'll be going to a set of Bridgestones this winter . You might want to see if the dealer is willing to change out the OE tires before you buy it . John

my co-worker (on my job) as has more issues with Jeep brakes (in general) and front end shakes then the posts on oil.....

Mike , is it a CRD,? Or, for that matter even a Liberty ? What year is it ? How many miles are on it ? Is it maintained properly ? Maybe You should ask Your freind to post His experience for Us . What You have posted is second hand info. Up to now, I thought You were better than that .John

I hear all the stories everyday & all day… After 10+ years of it, you could not pay me to take a jeep. And I thought Ford was bad.

But, to comment on your post “Up to now, I thought You were better than that .John”.. Up until now, do you really think I care????? I do not own a jeep, just tired of hearing how bad they are.
