Hi All!
I am needing a mower for this season. I found a 2005 GT245 with 980 hours (54” deck) at a local John Deere dealership. They are asking $1300. Assuming they won’t budge on the price, does that seem to be a descent deal? Thoughts on the (nearly) 1000 hours? I have read a number of reviews on the tractor and it seems like they are well-made and run for a long time. Thanks for any input!

1000 hours is beyond the useful life of most lawn tractors. The Kawasaki FH601V was known to give up the ghost at around 400 hours. It might last another 15 years or it could die on your first cut. Without a thorough inspection or warranty, I'd be looking elsewhere.

I a GT235 with no hour meter that easily has over 1500 hours. It has the Briggs motor. I have replaced several minor parts like starter etc and the cheap plastic is grumbling but I have had no major mechanical problems.

Eh, 900 hours isn't horrible. Most of these Kawasakis can run out well past 1000 hours.

I just bought a Gx335 with 1250 hours on it, well maintained for $1800. Hydraulic deck lift, power steering, diff lock.... feels fancy. Just hope it lasts for me.
