2004 TC45DA with SuperSteer
I'm looking at trading in the TC45DA for a cab tractor. I had a guy call today that wanted to know if we would be willing to sell it. He has passed buy many times and seen the tractor and was looking for a new to used one. He has no idea that I'm looking for a cab tractor.

I have had the New Holland and John Deere dealers out. The price they give on trade is $18,000-18,500.00.

The tractor has no know problems and is in excellent condition. All service work has been done by the selling dealer. I just don't have time to do it with the hours I work.

2004 TC45DA HST and SuperSteer with 220 hours
At dealer now getting the 200 hour service done
R4 ind tires
1 rear remote
1 rear work light
Arm rest kit on seat
Grill guard
17LA loader with skid-steer carrier
HD bucket with bolt on reversible cutting edge
New Umbrella Canopy
I have some New holland HST/Hydraulic fluid that goes with the lucky buyer.

What should I price it to him for? He wants to put a back hoe on it.

If you read Barry's link, you will find that I definitely have an opinion about pricing on these tractors. Since yours is a 2004, I think I'd put the price up at $20,500 or maybe higher. The dealer is offering you a wholesale price for your trade-in. Ask yourself, " If I was looking for a tractor like mine, what would I consider a good deal?" Since you bought the tractor new, you know exactly what it cost. I would not give in to a lower pricing without at least trying to make a sale myself so I could collect the retail price on my tractor and pay retail for the new one. If you sell your tractor for wholesale and then pay retail, you are gonna take a "beating" on the cost out of your pocket. You cannot sell at the level a dealer can, but that would not stop me from pricing at that level so I could negotiate downward for a good prospect.

I think now is a good time to have a tractor in the market. Price your tractor right and I think you'll do the best for yourself and have a happy buyer too.

Thanks Jim and Barry. This helps. We'll see if I can make a sale or not.;)

It is easy to go down but tough to go up. I would follow Jim's advice.

Well, I listed the TC45DA in the local paper today. I got it back from having the 200 hour service done on Monday. I am going to try selling it first myself. After about a month if it dosen't sell, I'll just trade it in.

She's in excellent condition and I'm going to sell my 2005 Woods RD84 finishing mower with it. I'm starting at $23,900 and going from there. The price may be a tad high but at least I've got some wiggle room built in.
