2003 Mahindra 5500 4wd won't start

Guys I'm in need of help again. My tractor won't start. Battery is good & I'm getting 12v at the starter but I can't even get it to turn over by arcing the starter. The last time this happened it was the ignition relay so I bought a new relay & nothing. All I get is a click from the starter when I turn the key. I am going to get a new ignition switch tomorrow but I'm wondering if it's the starter this time. I tried to crank it last week & it barely turned over & then just clicked. Can anybody offer some advice? You think it is the starter or what?

Have your battery amperage checked out. Had same thing going on for 5530 last year. Battery voltage checked out good but amperage failed. Bought a new battery problem solved.

Hey, I've got a '02 6000 that used to do the click, click, click thing untill it hit it just right and then it would fire over....I took the solinoid off and took it apart...there's a rod that connects the starter to the solinoid...it gets sticky and sometimes won't make the distance to connect to the starter.. (that's the click you hear)...I cleaned it and the surrounding area with alcohol and took an artist's paint brush (small) and put some thin clear synthetic grease on the rod (not much tho..), put it back together and haven't had a bit of problem with a click since...take a pic of the setup before you start so you know what its supposed to look like when you're finished...wiring etc. good luck BobG in VA

Clean all connections to the from the ground to the frame the battery to the starter.. all connections at the starter and then be sure your safety switches are operating right.. usually you wont get a click if its a safety switch though.. I had one doing the same not long ago and fixed the problem with the power wire going to the starter from the battery
