Found 2001 F250 Lariat, 7.3, 90,000 miles. Doesn't seem dealer will go below $19,600. The truck appears to have been well taken care of. Am I wrong thinking 19,600 is a bit high for a 2001.

It is high for that year, should be no higher than 12-13 thousand even with the low miles, if you buy it from a dealer you might pay 15 tops
They are all over craigs list you just have to look and be patient
I bought a 2000 w/7.3 in good condition with low engine miles for 6000, I have put 35000 miles on it and love it, it has been trouble free

That seems really high for a ten year old truck. Have you checked out low and high bluebook on it?

I used to have a 2001 F250, I bought it new. It was a very good truck. The 7.3L was a mint engine, but that price is insane.

bought a '01 f250 diesel 4x4 a year ago with 36,000 miles for $14000. It did have some body damage and will probably replace the bed for about $2 grand in the near future.I think the one you found is a little high depending on condition. you gotta love that 7.3 though:thumbsup:

Its high. I know where a 2003 F-250 7.3L with 80,000 miles, one owner sold for $12,500. He was asking $14,000

It was a Extended Cab, Short Bed, 4x4, XLT, auto, and as clean as they come.

Just be aware on that era F-250 the GVWR can be low. I have seen them with 8,800# GVWR and the truck weighs about 7,500# Long story short, 3-4 guys, and you re left with 500 to 600# legal payload or tongue weight.

That price is ridiculous! :confused2:

The 7.3 trucks do seems to hold their value well, but not that well!

When I was looking, I found an F-350, 4x4 dually with about 80,000 miles and they were only asking about $16,000. I didn't buy it, but it's a bigger truck with fewer miles for less money. I don't see any way the F-250 you found could be worth that.

Thanks for the input. Guess I will keep looking and try to be patient.

If you want a 3/4 truck try looking for a 1 ton SRW. Ford made a lot of these and they will handle much more weight on the tongue or payload. The tow rating will be about the same as a F-250 but the SRW 1 ton is much more truck.

For example I have a 2004 F-250 and the GVWR is 10,000#. Weighs 7,500# so the payload or tongue/pin weight is 2,500#

I also have a 2006 F-350 SRW and the GVWR is 11,500#. Weighs 7,600# so the payload or tongue/pin weight is 3,900# Much more truck.

Both trucks are otherwise identical. 4x4 Diesel Short bed Extended Cab with Auto trannys.
