I have my grandfathers 1963 4-cylinder ford tractor. It has a little over 1600 original hours. Lately a light "pecking" started and I assumed the valves needed adjusted. I removed the valve cover and started the motor. The "pecking" immediately went away. I noticed the rear oil inlet line to the rocker arm asssembly was vibrating excessively up and down. I looked on the inside of the valve cover and seen a small spot where it had been rubbing. I can hold the line down and it will stop vibrating. Does anyone know what can cause this? can you see the other end if you take the side cover off?

Any advise would be greatly apprecited.......Tikk66

There is a rubber grommet that is supposed to seal the lower end of the tube. if it is bouncing up and down, there probably is no oil being supplied to the rocker arm shaft. After 45 years, the grommet has given up.
