2000 2cyl or 3cyl ?

I talked to a man this weekend and he had parts to a burned up Yanmar for sale. The engine and front end were ok the back was burned up. He had already discarded the back of the tractor after pulling the rear end. He said that the engine was a three cylinder and that they tractor was a 2000. I have a YMG2000D which is a three cylinder did they make another YM 2000 that was a three cylinder tractor? I am having some trouble with the 4 wheel drive on mine so I went ahead and bought the front end thinking that if I did not need I could resale. If the engine is the same as mine I am going to buy it also, as he has what I consider pretty good price on it. big dan

Big Dan, I'm by far an authority on Yanmars, but from all my reading around here I believe the YMG to be the only 2000 version with the 3 cyl.

Also, I remember reading a chart somewhere that showed the YMG dimensions matching that of the YM1700 and not the YM2000. Check that out before purchasing.

I wonder what causes a rear end to burn up? I could understand the front, but what is in the rear to burn? Hahahaha, come to think of it, I nearly burned up my back in using the boxblade to push brush into a fire. But that's another story.

The engine for YM2000 is 2 cylinder, and the plate by the starter will say 2TR20A (sometimes with a suffix -X). The serial number stamped in the block near that, will start with the same characters.

What is on that engine's plate?

Tony is was burned up on the back half of the tractor. He has everything from bellhousing forward. He ran the tractor for two hours before taking it apart. thanks for all the info big dan
