2 lever hydraulic loader problem

I have a Ford 1700 with front loader. It is old and needs help but still shreds the weeds very well. Today I fired it up to do some shredding and went to move the bucket. The levers both worked in only one direction hydraulicly. Lift up and dump. In the other direction no joy. Checked fluid it was a little low so I add about 2 quarts. Looked good on dip stick so I leaned on the lever to lower the bucket and blew a hose.

Does my control valve have something that can be stuck and not move even thought the lever moved? Don't remember the brand of valve I replaced it a few years ago, but it worked up until now.

If your loader has quick disconnects on it, you might have two that froze up from sitting, or just "gave up" - check out my post on them here

Thanks for the help, But no QDs. All hard pipe and hose. I was hoping for someone to tell me there is a froze check valve.

Tractordata.com lists the 1700's hydraulics as "live" - I'm wondering if that's another term for "open center", as most non-monster tractors use - either way, I'm not at all familiar with that model but I wonder if you're onto something. A lot of loader valves use load checks, and if it sat for a while I would think those might be stuck.

I replaced the bad hose and it's mate. The control valve had 2 removable covers. Under each is a spring designed to keep valve centered. Seemed to work as expected. Started tractor and worked fine. Like simple stuff. Thanks BuketCase. Yes I think it is a open center valve.
