Deere 5065e MFWD
My MFWD 5065e has the rear tires/wheels set up on 60 inch centers. I have 22 inches from the center of drawbar to inside face of right rear tire. According to John Deere plow manual I need 25.5 inches for 14" moldboards vs 22. If I go to 12" bottoms I need 23.5. What will not work right if I don't change my wheel spacing? The 9.5" front tires are centered on rears at 59". The outside track of both edges is from rear tires. It seems to me I would need to know the relative lateral positions of both bottoms compared to drawbar center to know if it would work. As long as tractor is in furrow cut by left bottom what is problem? I am knew to plows and know there is something I may be missing. It seems the right edge of the right bottom needs to line up with face of furrow cut by left edge of left bottom?

If the plow sets too far to the right (1st mold board overlaps into the furrow) it will be cutting and turn less soil than the other bottoms and leave dip in soil height with each pass through the field.

You don't need to change your wheel spacing, you simply need to adjust your 3pt lift arms to the right or left. This will cause the plough to be out of line with the tractor but there will be an adjustment on the plough to swing it one way or the other so you can line it up with the centreline of the tractor.
Setting up a plough can be very difficult with no experience and it take a little trial an error even if you know what you are doing. Good luck!

You DO have to set the wheel spacing, at least on the right hand side, close to correct for proper plowing or the front plow will either turn too narrow a strip or more likely a big plop if tractor is set too wide. If you intend to do plowing try to get the inside edge of the front tire lined up with the inside edge of the rear so they can both ride against the furrow wall and the front will be your guide.

Why are you looking at 12" bottoms with that tractor? If you have 16.9 tires they wont even fit in the 12" furrow. That tractor with MFWD should be able to pull 3X bottoms, either 16" or 14". 3-bottom would probably work OK around 68" centers.

Thanks. I have been reading about plowing. I have no experience with bottom plows. Just chisel plows and disc harrows . I am realizing using bottom plows is more complex than I originally thought.
