I can get the subject unit for about $9000 - is this a bargain? Has been stored outside in the weather, serviced annually

There are two manual transmissions - the reverser and collar shift. Even with a collar shift it sounds like a great deal. But it is important to realize that it is a stop and shift setup. Not the best for loader work or tight mowing. The reverser is a Syncreverser, and very nice.

Does it have a loader?

I had a 2001 with the sync shift transmission and the transmission was pretty smooth with no gear grinds being a syncronized transmission. If your just brushhogging or light loader work it will fit the bill perfectly. Like Rockyridge said you can't switch directions on the fly unless it has the reverser.
