Hello. This is a rebuild thread for a 1991 Case IH 275 tractor I just purchased.
I'm like many and glutton for punishment it seems.
This is my first diesel engine and diesel engine rebuild, AND my first tractor I've ever owned.
Tractor Specs:
1991 Case IH 275
2 wheel drive
Hours - 2100
No power steering
Engine - Mitsubishi K3M 31 HP 3 cylinder diesel (very UN-common)
I am rebuilding because the PO neglected it and left it lightly flood by a river here in NC a few months ago.
First thread about the tractor:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/286371-flooded-1991-case-ih-275-a.html
Current Status:
The whole front end of tractor is torn down.
Crankshaft, pistons, block, and head are at a good machine shop being machined.
Block is in good shape and the crankshaft will need to be turned.
I'm searching for all the parts I need to rebuild - found someone, here actually, Sheaffer's Town & Country Tractor that can source most the parts. He's been very helpful and one of the main reasons I decided to rebuild rather than salvage this tractor!
In the meantime I'm cleaning the remaining parts and hardware getting ready to rebuild.
The gear case, hi-tran. case, and rear axle all seem to be in good condition. i.e. no water.
I just returned from the machine shop and they need more accurate machining clearances for the crankshaft and cylinder bore.
The service manual specs. - attached - are not accurate to the level they need to turn the crankshaft and mic. the bore.
They said it will be quoted as two numbers out to 4 digits, i.e. 2.3345/2.4343 or something similar.
Does anyone know where I can get accurate machining data - the correct clearances?
