When I move forward it seems that the left brake is stuck, so much that if I continue engine will die under the load. Doesn't seem to stick in reverse. Any suggestions would be appreciated. At the moment I can't move the tractor.

The brake lining has probably delaminated from the shoe and is piling up under the lining on the other shoe.

Thanks RickB, but it's a hydrostatic trans and has no brake shoes. I appreciate your reply nonetheless. Scott

OK, you have wet disc brakes. Check the operating shaft and see if it is seized to the cover where it enters the brake housing. It should have several degrees of relatively free travel matching the pedal freeplay spec in your operator's manual.
