I recently acquired a 1987 Case 850D dozer. It has no owners manual and I do not know much about the machine. It was given to me to store with the agreement I can use it on the farm. In the back of the machine, just below the batteries, is a dip stick I am guessing is for the final drive/transmission. The maintenance log under the hood says to use Case TCH fluid. Is this hydraulic? What can I use as a substitute? What type of hydraulic fluid do I use in the reservoir for the blade? Any help is appreciated.

If the tractor actually belongs to someone else, even though it is pretty high, I'd go for the TCH Fluid... Last I checked a couple years ago, it was $80 for 5 gallon pail at a Case Construction dealer. It may be less at an Ag. dealer. I know the same part # is 10% less at an Ag. dealer. Expensive yes..., but may save some heartache down the road.

All of the Case dozers we had from an old 450C up to the newest 850E and 550G all used TCH in all hydraulics and transmissions.
