Guys,
I've got to get up under my '85 Deere to replace what appears to be the factory hydro belt.

It is quite checked and missing a few pieces of rubber on the belt, so, I'm sure it needs replacing.

My dilemma is that I hope that change will stop the failure to even pull it's own weight up even the slightest incline.

It will even pull a loaded manure spreader like a champ....on level ground.

Give it even the slightest of incline and nothing.

No belt whine. No smell of burning rubber.

I'll give you this bit of clue and I'm not sure that this is even relevant.

If the motion level is pulled back just an inch or so, to slow the forward motion, it will pull like the champ it is, once again..
only slowly.

I'm stumped!

I'll put it up on jack stands in the morning, the barn help is complaining once again about it's sluggish behavior,
and replace the belt I had to special order.

You should've seen the look on the face of the guy at the parts desk of the local Deere Dealer
when I asked for a part to an '85 mower.

While it's not all that unusual to have or own one it IS unusual to have one still pulling it's weight around the farm on a twice
daily basis.

I believe in dancing with the girl I brought to the dance till she says it's time to go home. ;)

Besides, I'm cheap. Uh...frugal. That's the word I was looking for.
