Hi! I have a JCB 1400B backhoe with the 60 or 70 horse perkins with turbo. I am done with the **** velvet shuttle in it. My son, who is a fabricator and a gifted one at that says a manual clutch tranny would fit under it just taking the spicer 4 speed and T72 borg warner out of it providing the donor tranny bolts to the bell on the perkins.
Has anyone ever tried such a thing? I would much rather go old school and have a tranny that's more reliable that won't slip unless the simple clutch burns up. I don't feel like spending thousands on a reman or having it rebuilt. I think I could find a good tranny with a hi/lo range which I think would work better. Any thoughts on this from those with better knowledge of these machines? Thanks!!!
