1983 Ford 335 industrial
Hi all , I’m new to the forum and have just bought the above tractor . I don’t know the first thing about tractors so it’s in at the deep end . I bought it from a colleague who has been using it and it’s been in his family for decades . The tractor itself all seems to work ok but the cab is rotten .
Can I get a spec for it from its tractor number or model code ? I’d like to find out its weight as I need to move it !
Tractor number is B532608
Model number GH414D
Transmission 3J27B

Any help much appreciated

I saw that Jim on the tractor data site but on another search somewhere that I now annoyingly cant find ( might of been new Holland parts View attachment 1736682site) I saw they made the 335 on the platform like a 4610
This is the front of it
Looking at the New Holland Part site, the 335 was made for a year in 1983 to Feb, 1984. It was called a highway tractor. It shares the same engine as the 3610 and 3910. The 530 shared the 4610 and the 230 shared the 2610/2910 engine. If you are looking the the weight, the two wheel drive was 4000 pounds. no cab. I don't see rear weights on your tractor and most industrial loader tractors need rear weight. Are the tires loader? Adding a loader, cab and 4wd, I would say 6000 pounds.

Thanks Jim that’s really helpful
Looks like I can just about move it legally with van and trailer .
So were these highway versions based around an ag base model of the same size or were they stand alone designs completely different to the ag models?
Not sure what you mean tyres loader?

Moving it depends on the van and trailer. I moved a 1975 Ford 4600 with aftermarket loader on a 7000# GVW trailer behind a 6 cylinder Silverado. The trailer did not have brakes. I took back roads and kept it to 45 MPH. That was a long 100 miles. I also moved my current New Holland 4630 using a first generation Toyota Tundra. This time, I rented a 10,000# GVW trailer and am really glad I did. Even then, that small V-8 was really struggling. Your tractor is even heavier. I paid $70 for the trailer rental 10 years ago. I would do the same today if I were moving the same tractor. As for the design, thankfully, Ford was great at using the same components and mixing/matching components. That is why you can still buy almost every part. If you look at the New Holland parts site, you see where each part was used on almost every model. The engine displacement may be a little difference but the same block. They used the same fuel injection pump but tuned differently. Industrial tractors were the same tractors but maybe a heavier front axle for a loader and a possible torque converter versus clutch. The rear axles were the same. As long as your 335 has the better wet brake rear axle, you will be fine.

Well I got it home . I borrowed a friends tri axle braked 16ft beaver tail and towed it with my MAN van that has max gross towing weight for uk and it was fine .
I’ve found out a bit more about the model now.
I haven’t managed to decipher the codes on its ID plate but I’ve done a bit more digging and know a bit more about it.
It is a 1983 tractor . Built in UK .
The 335 was built from 1981-83 as a highway utility tractor and for all intents and purposes was based around 3910. I’ve yet to establish what the actual differences were. They were actually sold from 1983 -1989 as a 3910H and looking at pics of them in internet I can’t see any differences from my 335 to the 3910H
Mine seems a bit rarer though as I can’t find any others with 4WD . I also know it started out life in Edinburgh working on the forth road bridge . It then made its way to the highlands and was bought locally and used on a local farm up til now.

First job is to remove the loader as I don’t need it so would prefer the tractor without it. I will get better access to the front of it as well then .
At first glance I know It needs a radiator and an exhaust and the rubber door holders that keep the doors in the open position and some mirrors and lights and indicators sorted .
This is ignoring the blazingly obvious rotten cab !
I think I will find a way to roughly patch the holes in the footwells so I can use it and in the mean time look out for a replacement cab . I’ve been told that it is an AP cab . I will post up some better pics when I get a chance.

Since found out it’s a sekura LP cab

Just came across your post today. Not sure about the G in the model number. Should be a C. The 414D would say it is in:
4 - 4th generation
1 - Diesel, Vertical exhaust
4 - Independent 540 PTO
D - 8 x 4 Synchromesh transmission

Did you get the numbers off of the hood or the RH ledge of the bell housing behind the starter, or both?

thanks for the detailed reply !
It looks like a G what do you think ?

Is the independent 540 PTO a decent enough PTO ?

The current tyre set up on it is
Rear 12.4x28
Front 10.5x20
The rear tyres look very small on it . I’d like to put something bigger on it . As it’s 4WD I’m assuming that if I make changes to the rears I also need to change the fronts.
What tyre sizes can I go up to on these rims ?
Would bigger rims and tyres work and if so what sizes ?
