I have been having trouble with the transmission (hydraulic) and the hydraulic components ie front loader not working. The hydraulic fluid looked like it was contaminated with water so I drained and refilled with new. Worked for a while now doesn't at all.

When I contacted Hoyt tractor he suggested blowing out the lines. He says there are two pumps on the tractor but doesn't think the pumps are bad. I have never blown out any lines.

Can anyone help me to make sure I do it correctly. Hoyt tractor says the trans and components share the same fluid and should have a filter. I don't have a manual so unsure what to take off to look.

I am pretty sure that whoever had the tractor before I got it removed the filter and never replaced it.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

JJ

JJ, on your 22 10, you should have two filters. 1 hydraulic spin on filter and another below your left foot on the transmission held on by three bolts and a cover. That filter has a screen in it and is just cleaned off and reused. Did you clean/ replace both of these?

Thanks for the quick response Scotty. This tractor does not have a spin on filter and 7-8 years ago when I took it to a hydraulic shop they said there was no screen filter. I don't have a manual so taking his word for it.

Any thoughts on blowing the lines to remove the foam and water contaminates?

thanks

I should clarify Scotty. Yes there is a spin on filter but thats for the oil and none for the hydraulic system. The oil seems ok just the hydraulic fluid seems contaminated. thanks

Welcome Aboard!

You have a "10" series tractor - lots of guys have them over in the Yanmar forum. Mine is a "20" series so I am more familiar with that model. I can pretty confidently say that you have some sort of filter on there. You may not have a spin on filter but you have a hydraulic screen somewhere on the transmission. Its a fine mesh screen and it is most probably clogged. Oh - get a parts manual for it - these are very simple machines to work on but having the manual is key.

EDIT - Just found a thread that will show you what you need with pictures:

You should post over in the Yanmar Forum or moderators - please move this thread.

Hi Scotty, A mechanic friend of mine came out and we tried bleeding the hydraulics system. The fluid seems clean but the shop I took it to 5 months ago overfilled it. There was LOTS of air. But even after we bled it did not work.

Cannot find reason for air in lines. Any thoughts. My friend though something wrong at the front hydraulic pump. A pin or something?

Thanks

Check your suction line and tighten up all fittings and clamps.
