A couple of years ago I bought a 300B backhoe. It had been sitting in the guys pasture for 2-3 years. We dragged it back to the shop and tried to start it. No luck. So I did a compression check. 100-0-300 psi. No good. So I ordered a in-frame rebuild kit, installed it and did a valve job, cleaned out the fuel tank and radiator, tested them, repaired and repainted them, changed the alternator to a single wire, new battery, new belt, new injectors, cleaned out all the fuel lines, replaced the return lines, rebuilt the water pump, checked the lift pump, new fuel filter and replaced the rusted out seat. Got everything put back together and gave it a whirl.
No start. no even a hint of trying to start. Removed the old wiring harness and rewired the tractor, No run. Tested the switch, start side was bad, replaced the switch. Removed feed line from injector pump and spun motor over. excellent fuel flow to the injector pump. removed the top of the injector pump to check solenoid. Solenoid kicks in when the key is turned to run and start. Reinstalled solenoid cap. Removed feed screen fitting from top of injector pump, clean, no issues. Refit fuel feed line to injector pump and opened bleed screw. No fuel at all. Cracked open the 3 fuel lines on the injector pump. no fuel at all. What should my next step be in figuring out why no fuel is getting into the pump (and thereby not getting any fuel to the injectors)?

I was checking some things again today, I have fuel to the injector pump, no air in the line. So I removed the small timing window on the side of the pump and fuel is flowing freely from there. There is fuel in the "bowl" on top of the pump but no fuel coming out of it when I remove that return line and the fitting that screws on top of the cover. It appears to have a check ball in the fitting, but it passes air either way

Inside the pump are pumping plungers.. they’re probably stuck..
Have u read up on the “metering valve”.?? Google it. so when u take the cover off again, you’ll know what ur looking for..
Another thing is to REMOVE THE CHECKBALL FITTING FROM THE TOP OF THE PUMP and then try to start it.. fuel will probably flow from the hole so be prepared for that..
I can leave the lines off at either the pump or at the injectors..
Ur just seeing if it’ll pump.
Good luck

Yes sir, I removed the check ball fitting from the top of the pump. Nothing came out while cranking (but there is some fuel in the bowl. I know what the metering pin is. I can look inside and see if it is stuck, however, there is fuel coming out of the small timing cover on the side, if ya remove it from the pump
So on the 2 plungers, they are the 2 small cylinders that look like a short fat needle bearing, butt up again each other and push back and forth to do the actual pumping? They are in the pump, on the fan side?
