Buying Advice 1975 John Deere 830

A friend of mine called me and asked if I was interested in one of his tractors that he had. The tractor was one of his feed lot tractors on his dads dairy farm. Tractor is in fair shape but is going to need a new set of lift arms. The sheet metal is in fair shape as it can be for working on a dairy farm. No major leaks detected and also had a set of dual remotes. He told me to make him an offer after I researched the tractor. So anyone here with any suggestions? comments or ugly remarks about this tractor.
Again is a 1975? model John Deere 830 2wd tractor. I am wanting a second tractor because i have three different tracts of land that I maintain and getting a second one and leaving at one tract would be really efficient for me. I want to stay around 40 hp as the biggest implement I would run is a 7ft bushhog along with a 2 bottom plow and a 9ft disc. Thanks in advance for the advice and replies!

I have an 820 (1973) preceeding model and it has been a good tractor. This is quite a bit heavier (4000lbs) than the L3400 but similar power. This is my spare tractor now and after having it for about 15 years no problems or issues. I have seen prices varying from 4000 to 8500, depends on the condition. Look at Tractorhouse and machinefinder to get an idea of asking prices.

I wanted an 830 when I bought the 2030. Nice sized tractor..........just could not find any when I bought
