1974 Ford 2000
Hello all, I am new to this site and need some info. I know this has been posted before but can,t find the right answer..LOL
1974 Ford 2000 3 cyl. gas engine with 8 speed high low trans, live pto so it has a double clutch. Thing is it grinds trying to put in gear. The adjustment rod is adjusted all the way there is no more thread left on it. Now I just split the tractor and found that BOTH disc's are not worn no where near the rivets. I adjusted the pressure plate fingers as per the manual. It still will not engage still grinds trying to put in gear. I can put it in at idle but just pops in as if you have the clutch out. Don't slip pulls fine. Ok any one have a thought on this? Thanks so much..

I did think about that last night just can't find anything wrong with the clutch so that leaves that bolt. It doe's move when I had the tractor apart but I bet when it hite the pressure plate the shaft moves but the throwout bearing must not. Thanks for your thoughts on this 2 or more heads are better than 1...LOL

PM "soundguy" and ask him. He has a LOT of old fords and probably has fixed one with this problem a time or two.

Oh, Some tractors have 2 ways to mount the clutch peddle and linkage. is it possible yours is mounted "wrong"?

No the peddle is right only one way to mount it. This has the spring mounted to it on the outside. Will split it again tomorrow and check the bolt on the shaft..thanks

Well checked the bolt that holds the throwout bearing to the shaft and it was NOT sheared. So any more idea's?..Could it be the pressure plate gone bad? Looked it over really well can't see anything wrong springs seem fine. It has yellow springs. Just trying not to rush and buy a new double clutch setup if I don't need to...but I will...LOL Thanks again

Heloguy, did you fix the problem with your clutch? What manual did you use to adjust the fingers?
