1972 FORD 4000

I am looking at purchasing a 1972 Ford 4000 2wd with Cozy Cab, industrial loader, and rear blade. My questions to whomever owns one out there is, what is a unit like this really worth? It has 4000 hours on the unit, power steering, has been converted from generator to an alternator.

If you trust the 4000 hours, the alternator conversion must include an alternator with a tach drive? I have a 1970 4000 (not an SU version) Diesel with a decent 735 Industrial loader with a universal attachment coupler, flattop fenders and a ROPS and 3 remote valves. It has less than 3300 hours on the chassis and less than 3200 on its 201 cu. in. engine out of a 1981 4610.

A buyer would be north of $7000 before a conversation even really got started about my parting with this tractor.
A tractor like a 3 cylinder 4000 simply cannot be bought new today.
About the only thing better in that HP class would be a 4610 or 4630 with better hydraulic flow and more reverse selections.

YEp, find out if the tach works. If it dont, the hours havent been ticking up every since the alternator conversion.

Heck, Dads 1967 4500 TLB (industrial version of 4000) only has 1005 hours :laughing: But was converted to alt...

As to value, alot depends on condition and how it runs. Any leaks? Hydraulic, engine?? Does it start cold without ether?? What transmission?? SOS???

Could be anywhere from a $3000 piece that needs alot of work, to a $8000 piece that isnear perfect mechanically...
