1971 ford 4000 3 cyl diesel tractor with CAV injection pump Need HELP!!!

I have a 1971 ford 4000 3 cyl diesel tractor with a CAV injection pump and I need to remove and rebuild.
But I知 looking for clarity on timing???
The CAV pump that I have is mounted so the cover for the timing cover is on the back side and can稚 be seen.
From what I have read I will need to turn tractor fly wheel until I find the 23 Deg. Mark and remove the pump carefully then turn pump over and remove the cover to see the timing mark location on the pump and take picture or mark it?
Then rebuild or replace but set the pump marks back to the same as when removed, bleed system and crank?

Sounds right.

I was lucky ony 3910 thathe the pump timing marks were visible. Removed the front cover to remove the pump gear. Made sure those two gears were timed as they came apart. Made sure the slotted pump markings were back where they were.

Gravity bled the pump. Then cracked the injector lines and bled out bubbles. Fired right up.

What the hellrutalkin about?? There is a timing line on the corner mounting flange that correspond w/ degree marks on the engine block..
A ford is set to or close to "0".
Remove the plate INFRONT OF the injection pump, radiator side.. remove the 3 bolts in the gear.. the gear will only go on 1 way seeing its master splined.. it has a dowel pin..
Remove the 3 mounting bolts holding the pump on & pull back..DONE.
DO NOT MOVE THE MACHINE when the pump is off.
If you find your over your head w/ the rebuild, let me know..TPG

It worked and its running, Thanks for the Help,
ONE more thing i cant seem to find the Part or Part number for the
injection pump timing gear gasket that i had to remove to get to the gear that the pump was attached to??

Prob. find it on the ford parts site..
Just google it.
I'm no help.. I ALWAYS take it off carefully w/ a scraper & just silicone it back on.. its just "splash" oil.. no pressure..
Heck, I've taken them off & the don't have a gasket on them at all.. just a lite smear of silicone/gasket maker..
Glad you got it going.. saved yourself about 600.00.

Mine didn't have a gasket. I put it back together with only silicone. No leak.
