1967 ford 3000?

New to the forum and been reading everything I could trying to research my tractor I just acquired. Best forum in the world for tractor info btw !! I need help in verifying the year/make/model of my tractor. I just inherited it and don't have any background on it at all. I was just a little confused cause when I first got it there were old ford 4000 decals on it and they appeared to be original. It also looks more like a 4000 from other tractors I've seen. I just cleaned and painted it and replaced the decals is as far as I have gone. Next step is changing all the fluids. I will attach some photos of the tractor and the numbers I got off the flat spot behind the starter. Thanks in advance for any help !!

Look for a metal tag under the hood it should have most of the information you need... assuming it is the original hood and the tag is still there. also that rear axle is not a regular 3000 ,but does look like the 4000 ,same for front axle best guess - you have a 4000 and those rear tires look like they are also for a 4000

Ohh and I WISH my 3000 looked 1/4 as nice as your tractor Very nice :thumbsup:

That's what I was thinking. Everything points to it being a 4000 but the serial number says otherwise from what I can tell. The sticker is not there. Would it be on the battery side ?

Thanks. It has a gas burner in it and needed a battery but started right up and runs great. I want to order a service manual but waiting to make sure I get the right one.

serian number does not denote model type. 3 cyl sn all ran together.. 2000, 3000, 4000

the model id on the trans.. 31013c would indicate the TRANSMISSION came out of a pre 4-68 3000, ag chassie, diesel, with an 8spd and live 540 pto

yuo clearly have reduction rears and the hd front axle of the 4000.. tinwork matches an early unit.

my guess is a repalcement transmission from a 3000

Thanks Soundguy, it had me stumped. It does have the 8 speed trans.

So I need to locate some more numbers somewhere or the tag under the hood if it's still there to get the exact year this is? But for sure it's a what they call a late model 4000 correct ?

it may be an EARLY 4000. the tin would seem to indicate that.

it has a louvered hood and old nose piece. those are early models.

might check the block for a casting number as well. might have screw in core plugs... do look fo rthe foil tag under the folding hood section.

can look at casting numbers on the rear and see if they are close to block age..e tc.

never know what you might have.

might be a different engine too. the 3 cyl blocks and engines all bolt up. might be a 158, 192, or a 201 gasser engine...
