I've been looking for a 22lr revolver that I can take on the tractor & 4 wheeler and not worry about damaging it....think I might have found it.
I've got S&W 17's, single sixes, kit guns etc but they are all too nice!
I came across a 3" bbl, aluminum frame High standard R-101 for a very cheap price. Finish is worn, original grips, locks up very tight.
DA trigger acually isn't that bad. Heavy, but smooth all the way through.
I don't think I'm going to worry about scratching this one. After some research I've found that the HS revolvers are pretty dern cool.
I've heard that the counterbored cylinder and unique hammer/slot setup makes for very positive ignition on rimfire ammo. (see the "slots" on each cylinder in pic of cylinder face)
Dry fire is OK according to the repro manual I found on line.
One single screw in the whole gun, the cylinder has a very unique ratchet mechinism on the face. Rear sight is windage adjustable.
Looking forward to shooting it. 9 shots of 22lr is pretty cool when your used to a six shooter. It's no S&W but I think it'll suit the job well.
