1959 Ford

I just bought my first tractor. I was told it was a 1965 ford 4000 but after getting it home and running the numbers I found it is actually a 1959 871D with the select o speed tranny. I have also since discovered that the tranny was replaced as so many original ones were. I'm looking forward to learning more as I go along and I'm happy to be here.

if your machine runs in all 10 forward gears and 2 reverses, then you are good to go.

it is picky on clean utf oil.

the engine is a very capable 172ci red tiger in the 48 or so hp range.

you have an independent single speed pto.

53-64 are my favorite ford years. aside from the SOS they have great parts support.
