1957 ford 640 won't drive

hello new to site . i broke my 640 tractor moving snow today, 1st gear just above idle drove in to snow pile moving loader up and POP now no drive forward or reverse every thing else works just fine(loader, 3 point, Pto , engine) anybody have an idea what may have broke? ( trans output shaft, output shaft coupler , pinion shaft,) i don't think it was an axle shaft but who know's i'm looking for the most common part that would break, i wasn't using it hard at all.

does the tractor make any unusual sounds now? Easiest might be to just pull the cover on the transmission and take a look in there.

nope no new noises, just no forward or reverse. the only noise this thing made was a noisy throw out bearing that needs replacing but that is intermittent. noise on that goes away when in-gauging the clutch. this pop was driving forward 1st gear just above idle running the loader moving snow pile back. it has 40'' bucket so no hurrying or your stuck ( front wheel base is 72'').

if the pto shaft works, then the clutch hub and input shaft are intact.

at that point i'd be looking at output shaft, coupler, pinion, ring gear rivits, rear hub and axles.

if the ring gear turns, pinion and forward are fine.

look in rear oil sump fill with flashlight, use a helper to get her in ger so she 'should be moving', so you can peer in.

that will tell you to look foreward or side to side.

well a little investigation shows that i have a broken axle shaft or side gear . i will be jacking it up tomorrow to check. anyone have axle shafts for a ford 600 series tractor? i desperately need to fix my tractor
