1951 Ford 8N Pricing & Selling Advice

Hi y'all! I'm looking for some guidance. My dad has decided to part with his beloved 1951 8N Ford. We have no idea how or where to list nor do we know what kind of value it might have. Full disclosure, I know nothing about tractors Here's the little that I do know: it was repainted several years ago but there is some rust showing; something poked a hole in one fender; the tires are fairly new; we can't make out the serial number, but "8N" is stamped in several places; it has been converted to a 12 volt system. But, I did take a bunch of pics and even a video as it does run. It hasn't been used much in the recent years, although dad starts it periodically. Prior to that, his favorite thing to do was clear the street and neighbors' drives when it snowed. It has been stored inside or under a carport for most of the years he's owned it.

A real beat up but running 8n may go for $1000-1500.
A good condition tractor with 12v update would likely go for $2500 - $3000, with show quality total rebuilds anywhere from $5k and up.
Just my opinion.

No help here, other than to say that location is probably a factor. You may want to list your state or closest major city.

The "N" tractors are not in favor like they were a few years ago. The availability of the modern SCUT and CUT tractors have flooded the market (small acreage utility tractor) and the "N" is the size most people looking for a tractor wanted in that market.

Your tractor looks like it is good shape in the pics but of course hands on condition will be the deciding factor for a buyer. So with luck here in Ky. I would guess you can probably expect to move it at around $2K, you could get lucky and find someone looking to collect or looking for one in slightly above average condition to make a trailer queen willing to pay more.

The market value for these old tractors sadly just ain't what it was a few years ago.

I used to have a 1952 8N. Looks like yours is in good condition. I’d say it’s worth $2000-$3000.

$2500 USD is the average I see them selling for.
But it is a strange world now so you may get more if you're patient.

Unless you list it on the Southern Ontario Antique Equipment Buy and Sell.....then it's automatically $12,500 no matter what shape it's in, LOL

If everything works I would expect the same prices here as in other areas posters have cited; around $2-3000.
I guess most people like the 12 volt conversion but that would be a deal breaker for me. It was designed for 6, and I would keep it that way.

It has the side mount distributor which is easier to service than the front mount dizzy. Nice example.
