What oil and oil filter to use on my 1948 Ford 8N??

I live in WI, doesn't get used much in the winter. primarily used for brush hogging and light driveway grading. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would say 10w30 or 40

It probably is the old standard ford filter , but I don't know but the FL1a from motorcraft or ph1a from fram?

The owners manual indicates 6qt of SAE20. Do I trying stick with the original reccoemended oil? use 10w-30? synthetic? I'm definitely not an oil expert especially not knowing the differences with synthetic and additives potentially effect an old motor

use any oil you want, except synth.

Anything made today is better than what was around in 1948.

I use 10w-30 in all my old stuff.

Thank you, I'm probably putting to much thought into it

My dad ran 15-40 diesel motor oil in his 2 8Ns. If you're mostly using it in the summer, I'd go with a heavy oil, like 10-40 or 15-40. I don't think there's a problem running a diesel oil as long as it's also rated for gas engines. We always just used the Fram filters from fleet farm.

Also, welcome to the forum. Whereabouts are you in WI?

If it has not been updated it wiil take a cartridge type filter like Baldwin PN6731B Oil Filter for 8N 9N 2N Ford Tractors.
Have a great day
