1944 farmall h crankshaft nut

I am looking for a crankshaft nut for a 1944 farmall H tractor. new or used. Does any one know where to get one?

I looked up the part number 24402d. Did a google search for "24402d nut". There isn't much by the look of things but you can try and see what you find. If it really isn't available then go to a machine shop and have one made or if you or a friend has a lathe it might be a project. You also might be able to go to a bolt supply type place and buy one. In any case you will have to measure the od of the threads and the number of threads/inch to either make one or buy one.

It's worth a try but if you read one of the threads in a forum like this it's no longer available. Still worth a try though.

I've found with Case Construction parts, if it says "Call", it usually means it's not available. With them listing the price, there may be a few around IF the dealer wants to take the time to check and see if it's in another dealers stock.

There is another option for used. Go to TractorHouse:http://www.tractorhouse.com/Default.aspx and post a "want to buy" ad. Look in the menu is red, at left top of site page, third item down. You'll need to register, and give some contact info. I've had very good luck finding obsolete parts doing that. I've gotten responses within 3 hours, to 36 hours. The key to a good response is, having the part number, description, and model it is off of.
