1942 Farmall H project

Hi guys,

New to the site, But I need some help with a project. I bought a 1942 Farmall H last summer. It came with a blown head gasket. I'm rebuilding the Carb, New gauges, And a new head gasket, And fluids of course, But I had to saw two studs from the bottom of the radiator to get it off the frame. was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if its something a radiator shop is best to handle?

Welcome to the forum. Them H's are good tractors. I would probably bring the rad to a rad shop to be sure no more damage is done to it. You can also get it pressure tested while there too.

Farmall tractors are easy to work on.
Can we see some photos of your tractor.

Haven't checked thread size. But they are studs that have a grease / rubber sealer all over the base at the bottom of the radiator.

Check and see if those studs are screws rusted in a slot.

some rads have captive bolts, studs or carriage headed fasteners in a bottom rale for mounting.

some are easier to repalce than others.. some have to be cut out and retrofitted with a nut and stud vs a headed bolt..e tc..

if you are lucky.. they are slotted

Well here are pictures of the base of the studs. One is still in place like it would've been back in 42 while another one must have gotten knocked loose. Its covered with "Lab-Metal Adhesive". Radiator will be going to a shop after christmas for a full overhaul and have new studs/bolts put on. One step closer to hearing her sing again.
