1920 PTO engaging difficulty

A grinding sound when engaging the PTO on a friend's 1920 is becoming worse. Sounds like a gear spinning that eventually stops when engaged. What would be causing this? Thanks!

The pto clutch likely needs adjustment ,this is also a sign of a worn main clutch...fyi..so I'd be prepared to do a clutch soon...especially if it gets used hard...on my 1910,I have to remove the loader bracket to access the clutch adjustment cover,hopefully the 1920 will have access without having to do that. ..
