1900 verses TC30

I would like to get a newer tractor with a little more power than my 1900. There is a TC30 for sale localy. After going on tractor data and checking the specs the TC30 has less pto hp than my 1900. This doesn't seem correct since the TC30 has more cubes. Did the change the way they are rated like they did the cars in the 70's.

nope.. a hp is still a hp.

cubes don't define hp.

using your logic, a ford 9n with 119 ci should have more hp than the tc30 with 91.. right? ? WRONG

displacement is only part of the equation. compression ratio is another part of it... then you add in things like natural aspiration or turbo chargers.. etc. which by the way, artificially skew the CI numbers when doing the comparison to a NA machine.. etc.

Take another look at tractor data, and you will see your 1900 even out weighs the TC30. You have more traction, and more PTO HP.

Well, I guess the TC30 is out. For curiosity I am going to see if anyone close has a pto dyno, and if not to expensive, see what my 1900 is putting out. Do most tractors put out what they are rated?

I've seen some put out more.. depends on the condtion of the engine mostly..

I knw for our dyno which is rated to 400 horsepower it doesn't do well with reading at all on the smaller compacts athough we do use it for simulating loads it is not accurate at all for horsepower.
