19? kohler k181T

i have what i think is a 8hp kohler k181T spec#30449D i have looked all over the net and can find nothing matching those #sany and all info you can give would be great.should this motor have a fuel pump or gravity feed?

Although I started to say it depends on the application and whether the fuel tank is above the engine, I'm thinking that the cast iron Kohler's had fuel pumps. May I ask what kind of machine this engine powers?

it is going on a go kart i chose this motor over a honda gx160 (5.5hp) for an older motor the kohler is very reliable and actually pretty fast on the kart, it has a plate on the block that can be removed ( <>) shaped like that. it runs fine with no pump on the top end but if you go from idle to wide open it spits and spudders i have cleaned the carb 2 times.when i pull the plug it is always black as can be,the guy i bought it off said the motor sat for about a year.i changed the oil last night i was gonna let it run for a while 2day and change it again if i do that a couple of times would that help with killing the plug? can i run a automotive engine cleaner in a small engine?

Probably need to adjust the carb as stated in the manual. If it continues, then you may need to take the carb off and clean it. Also check your fuel tank vent hole cap to be sure it is not clogged.
