Oil & Fuel 1850 / Deutz 1011F Oil Amount?

The manual says 10.5 Liters (11 Quarts). Just making sure this is correct. Seemed like a lot to me...

Think of it as engine oil, plus oil coolant.

Air cooled engines tend to have rather large oil capacity to enable high outside temperature operation.

You also have large sump so that you can do donuts on 45 degree slopes and not starve the engine of oil...

I think there must be other factors at work as well. According to the manual that come with my 3 cylinder Duetz engine the oil replacement quantity (liters) with filter is: F2L--6.5 l, F3L--6 l, and F4L--10.5 l.
