To be fair, the hookup between the two favored the steam tractor as the more the Deere pulled, the more weight (on the ground) it removed from its back axle.
Also, pulling a plow all day, the Deere would probbaly out perform the steam tractor by a large margin.

I've seen this a few different times on the forums. The torque that a steam engine puts out is hard to match.

That steamer makes that John Deere look like it is a piece of junk or a big high-tech plow.

I don't know. Them pulling engines are made to go full out for only a short period of time, not for 12 hours like the steamer is made to do. I would think that deere would be blown up at about an hour into the plowing.
