Hello guys,
Came across this peculiar air compressor on Craigslist the other day. It is a Grimmer Schmidt air compressor that is 175cfm and is powered by a 351 Windsor engine and the hour meter has about 450 hours on it. Here's the peculiar thing, one bank of the engine is the air pump and the other drives operates normally. My experience with compressors this size has all been screw compressor based. I would be using it to blow out equipment, run up to a 1" impact, carbon arc gouge, and maybe run a sandblaster someday. Doesn't have a air drier or water filter on it and it is mounted on a skid. I hope most of the parts are still Ford so parts availability should be pretty decent.
The guy is wanting $3700 for it. No service records. Said he used it to blow out sprinkler systems and doesn't use it anymore.
What do you guys think? It is cheaper than a tow behind diesel with more hours that I was looking at and I like that it would have some parts compatibility with some of my old Ford trucks.
